Most Common Places To Win The Formula One World Championship 

Max Verstappen’s dominant victory at the recent Japanese Grand Prix has left him on the cusp of a third straight World Championship. The Flying Dutchman has been in scintillating form so far this term, winning 13 of the 16 races that have taken place and building up a whopping 177-point lead at the summit of the driver’s standings. With a maximum of 188 points available ahead of the upcoming Qatar sprint race, it’s looking more and more likely that the title will be claimed in the Arabian Gulf state. 

Dominant Verstappen in a League of His Own 

The 25-year-old Red Bull man claimed his maiden world championship amidst a firestorm of controversy. However, the two years since that fateful day in December 2021 have been anything but controversial. Super Max has ruled with an iron fist, winning 28 of the 38 races contested since and all but claiming three straight titles. But this season has had its critics, claiming that most races have been a foregone conclusion and that excitement has been nonexistent. 

Luckily for F1 fans, there are plenty of other ways they can get involved should the racing continue to be somewhat drab. There have been a lot of new racing games that have been popping up online such as Mad Cars. The game is one of a number of new online slots in the UK in 2023 and has kept fans entertained when the racing on their TV screens has been somewhat lacklustre. As well as that, video games such as F1 2023 and F1 Manager 2023 have been a hit with fans throughout the course of the season. 

One Grand Prix where the racing won’t be subpar at least is Qatar, for Verstappen at least. With the Dutch star on the cusp of claiming yet another world title, we have taken a look at the most common tracks where the world driver’s championship has been claimed. 

Abu Dhabi 

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is full of glitz and glamour, and it’s the perfect place to bring the curtain down on a Formula One campaign. Verstappen claimed his first world title there back in 2021 courtesy of a last-gasp overtake of Lewis Hamilton, denying the Brit a record-breaking eighth world title. The Stevenage-born driver is no stranger to claiming the crown in the United Arab Emirates, winning back-to-back titles there in 2014 and 2015 following epic season-long duels against teammate and rival Nico Rosberg. 

Since being introduced to the Formula One calendar back in 2009, five world championships have been won there. Sebastian Vettel was the first, outlasting teammate Mark Webber, Fernando Alonso and Hamilton in a four-way final race title decider for the ages back in 2010. Rosberg claimed his first and only title there in 2016, as well as the three triumphs shared between Hamilton and Verstappen. 

Brazil 

Prior to Abu Dhabi being made the final race of the season, the Brazilian Grand Prix was the usual place where titles were won and lost. Between 2006 and 2009, four straight world championships were claimed in Sao Paulo. Alonso claimed his second of two back-to-back world championships there in 2006 after outlasting Michael Schumacher. The following year, the Spaniard and McLaren teammate Hamilton somehow let the title slip through their fingers and be claimed by Kimi Raikkonen. 

The following year, Britain’s resident GOAT would make no mistake, overtaking Timo Glock on the final corner of the final lap of the final race of the season to claim his maiden world title. The following year, compatriot Jenson Button would claim his first and only crown. Since 2009 however, only one title has been won there since, with Vettel holding his nerve to outlast Alonso and claim his fourth straight championship in 2012.
